pavu.com invented the internet together with frederic madre.
frederic madre - together with the internet - secretly invented the <alt+161>pam art too.
shortly after inventing internet and *pam art, frederic madre declared crossposting net.wrong...
... opposition is underground...

Yes, looking at other lists is important. I immediately thought of the
long series of exchanges between mez and Frederic Madre on the syndicate
(a list I enjoy but have rarely posted to, I think Anna's a moderator);
other people also joined in that. For those of you not aware of the work
done by mez and Frederic Madre, you can view their work at
http://www.hotkey.net.au/~netwurker/ and
http://pleine-peau.com/ respectively. mez is also in the current issue of
the zine I publish, mark(s) [http://www.markszine.com]. The postings
concerned a statement Frederic made abt mez's work; a cursory glance might
have given the impression that this was a heated, unfriendly debate of
sorts between two brilliant net artists. However, both stated their
arguments and life went on. Part of day to day life on a list. The
disembodied experience c! omes home?
Internet cafes are an interesting subject. After 9/11 I received emails
from a friend in India from an email 'kiosk,' last year another
acquaintance was frantically hitchhiking through Ireland looking for
access to email a text she had written for me. Meanwhile I have been
attempting to get a grant through to set up 'internet kiosks' in
particularly ravaged areas of our city (yes, there are schools w/out
computers in 2002USA). Nicola's reference to SMS(phone text) in Manila
points to the great uses and neezine engage immediately, thus allowing
quick response from the activistmarksziney. Canbsplism will abuse any
technology, the previous postinabtnmez'srnet cafes defines serious
problems, however, (and this list is an example) there is much to be
gained, censorship and/or restriction of availability is not a valid
response. I recently read that only 8% of the world population has any
access to the internet, which places us all in t! he position of the
priviliged and heightens our responsibility.
