well, it's a long story. I don't believe that there are two armies facing each other, 
- we are hopefully part of the same network...

but certainly there are many challenging issues, different perceptions
with a bit of irony and hypocriticism involved.
as far as i see there are several issues in debate
- search of the avant-garde on different mailing lists and communication environments
while missing exactly the points of communication arts in the avant-garde
- East-West question... concentrating at one hand on the perception of  data, and the question whether
eastern samizdat culture can meet the illegal knowledge and small press culture of the west in the art and 
new media context without censorship
- the problem of moderation on mailinglists and curatorial behaviours in the East West art context, 
which in the light of text of the leaving syndicate moderators appearead as a feeding hand - biting the hand
question 
- the avant-garde in net.art and medium specific arts
- critical reception of technology in artist's perspective

[ i am not sure if the hypocriticism of Geert Lovink worths a word - personally it is really not my ambition,
though it happens that i live in illegal conditions since nine years exactly because he was an anarchist and i was living 
with him - but a strict investigation of his attitude - influencing the grounding of a whole culture - might put in evidence why 
on nettime art and feminism is not recognised as an equal form of cognition and criticism. ]
