From Barcelona: A Report From Sonar 2002
by Hannes Praks (Kohvirecords)

Sizzling heat, noise, and rubbing shoulders with thousands of people...
These are the keywords that characterize - besides the music, of
course - the Sonar electronic music festival, that is annually held in
Barcelona, Spain. For a person like me, who comes from a Nordic country
(Estonia) and is used to silence and an average temperature of 10'C, it
is all unusual and exciting. At home I had made plans to catch as many
artists as possible, but the plan proved to be quite naive. To get from
one live act to another was like a hurdle run through masses of dancing,
standing or lying people, and required the skills of a yogi or a ballerina.
The festival was divided into "Sonar By Day" and "Sonar By Night." Both
sections were dominated by totally different atmospheres.

Vol. 002: Kato Haruyuki from "Studio Voice" magazine

As a first message from my workplace at the editor's desk I want to
announce that the August issue of "Studio Voice" (on sale from 7/6) is
going to be a 'Postmodern Design' special. For those born around 1960
the contents will probably be a bit intricate. The issue is focusing on
design as its theme, but we are aware that the scheme of
'postmodernism = 1980s' is one that refuses to be discussed that
easily. Well, you'llsee how we approached the topic in our magazine,
whereas as a matter of fact we are talking about an era that young
people around twenty didn't have the chance to experience, and
undeniably we are doing this with some kind of yearning for that
strange enthusiasm that was characteristic for the '80s.
