ne manquez pas la cinquième édition du
Festival de cyberart du Studio XX
Les HTMlles
Montréal, le 17 janvier 2002 - Le Studio XX, centre de ressources en
arts médiatiques et numériques pour femmes, lance la 5e édition de son
festival de cyberart Les HTMlles, pour nous faire découvrir, du 6 au 10
février, plus de 25 úuvres, installations, performances, conférences et
présentations spéciales díartistes femmes provenant díhorizons aussi
riches et divers que líArgentine, líAustralie, les Etats-Unis et le
Canada. Cette année, suite à une collaboration avec La Chambre Blanche,
le festival a lieu simultanément à Québec le 9 et 10 février.
Cette année Les HTMlles : le festival de cyberart présente une sélection
díúuvres díart Web des plus novatrices sous le thème Le double, le
multiple et la contamination et les débordements hors cadre du
cyberespace, incluant 13 úuvres Web, 3 installations, une performance en
ligne, 2 Web Jams, une soirée de musique électro, un concert traitement
en temps réel, 2 conférences théoriques, plusieurs présentations
díartistes et un atelier. Il propose une réflexion sur líespace Web en
tant que lieu hybride, pluriel et métissé, issu díune histoire et díune
tradition et ancré dans celles-ci.
De plus en plus, les artistes en arts médiatiques travaillent en équipe
et partagent leur savoir, souvent par nécessité. Issus de milieux
diversifiés, leurs parcours sont variés : beaux-arts, sciences,
informatique, communication, graphisme, etc. Les úuvres médiatiques
donnent à voir ces différentes influences et sources díinspiration, et
le festival de cette année sera líoccasion de síinterroger sur cette
multiplicité qui structure líart Web. Contemplatives,
cinématographiques, didactiques, conceptuelles et autres, les úuvres
choisies reflètent ces innombrables avenues.
Dans le site Web du Studio XX, un hyperlien (www.studioxx.org/maid2002/)
permettra aux internautes de visionner les úuvres Web ainsi que de lire
les biographies díartistes et les conférences en plus de suivre le
déroulement du festival.
Aussi pertinent pour le grand public que pour les initiés, le festival
promet encore une fois, à líoccasion de sa cinquième édition, de jouer
un rôle unique dans le développement et la compréhension des multiples
possibilités offertes par le Web.

Studio XX Web Art Festival
Maid in Cyberspace / Les HTMlles
Montreal, January 17, 2002 - Studio XX, a womenís digital and media arts
resource centre, presents the 5th edition of its cyberart festival, Maid
in Cyberspace/Les Htmlles promising new discoveries from February 6
to10, with over 25 works, installations, performances, conferences and
special presentations by women artists from as far away as Argentina,
Australia, the United States and from here at home. This year, the
Festival will have a presence in Quebec City for the first time in
collaboration with LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE, from February 9 to 10.
This year Maid in Cyberspace/Les Htmlles will explore the theme the
Double, Multiple, Contamination and off screen's extension of Cyberspace
with a rich program including 13 Web art works, 3 installations, an
on-line performance, 2 Web Jams, an evening of electronic music, a
concert dialogue with computers in real time, 2 thematic conferences,
artistsí presentations and an ergonomic workshop. This yearís edition
proposes a reflection on the context of the Web as hybrid, plural and
mixed spaces, issued from and anchored within specific histories and
traditions.
Media artists now work more and more often in teams and must share their
knowledge in such contexts. Coming from diverse backgrounds, their
formal training is varied: visual arts, sciences, computers,
communications, graphic design etc. The resulting media art works
demonstrate and expose these different influences and sources of
inspiration. As such, this selection of innovative works from Canadian
and international artists reflect these multiple avenues;
cinematographic, contemplative, didactic and conceptual, amongst others.
This yearís collaboration with LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE assures the festivalís
presence in Quebec City. LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE proposes a selection of Web
art works which will be presented simultaneously in Montreal and Quebec
City, alongside the festivalís official selections.
More than ever, the festival constitutes a unique event and a privileged
moment for those who are interested in new technologies. It has become
an indispensable forum for meetings, exchanges and discoveries by the
public and participating artists.

artistsí profiles will be available.

casual objects manipulating two record players in a DJ-like manner:
