>there are lots of words waiting in the margins.
do you want a report, too ?
hm
donc ........ transmediale
I must admit that I did not go to any panels or discussions. I shortly
looked through the exhibition, looked through a few CD-ROMs, went to one
screening of audio-visual works ... that's pretty much it ...
basically I am not of the opinion that I can say this much.
I look at things very selectively. I never try to see all, but concentrate
on the things that seem to be related to my work. hm ... ;)
kind of annoying for people who want a report, I guess
>from what i understood that this years transmediale was a very
>succesfull and very busy (way too busy according too several
>people).
yes, would say this too .. it moved from the Podewil to the Haus der
Kulturen der Welt, which is much bigger.
So there is more space for everything but I somehow felt that there was no
concentration.
In the exhibition
no focus on the subject 'go public' ( perhaps this was meant this way ).
Basically like a temporary museum. So, in my opinion I would expect in such
an event something else than a traditional media art exhibition ( ;) ....
traditional = ZKM ).
( what if the museum goes public ? this would have been an interesting
question, in my opinion ... probably this would have meant to have no
museum at all. )
and if there is a focus on a subject ... trying to get the things to
communicate with each other, which is quite difficult with media works in
boxes, well ...
I guess Alexei Shulgin's work was the only one really related to the
subject 'go public' ... kind of a lost portier somehow, outside of the
building .. lost and strange because naturally the 'outside' space which
can be defined as 'public' is much different from what we understand by
'public' when we talk about net-works for example ..
hm .. do not think that the works were all bad, just wondered about what
this exhibition should be.
on Saturday stumbled into a presentation in the salon. The Faces mailing
list was presenting 'real media women' ( was written on the paper lying
around ) ... ;) women working in all kind of media in between art and
design and most of them located in Berlin as far as I understood this ...
but ...
Diana ? maybe you want to say something about this ? give an overview or
what would be interesting to me, was there a lot of feedback (from outside) ?
>some people suggested that it could crash under it's
>succes. but that said, i wasn't there.
don't know ... hm ;) ... did the Ars crash under the success ? ... probably
a question of viewpoint
this for now
