[syndicate] seals

well, yes, i did think about the destruction. i find it curious that
you had to ask or remind me, but i guess the problem with the world
today is that too many people don't think about it. it was extremely
frightening and awesome at the same time. that is why i had to try so
hard to meditate, to clear my mind of the fear of a pipe burst, a hull
burst, and of a mad captain. the captain and the executive officer had
the only guns, and they had the two keys required to launch. with the
forced or willing assistance of a couple of missle technicians they
could target those missles anywhere.

there was no fail safe. there may be one today. i was underwater during
the entire Falkland war. that war was the first war in which a nuclear
submarine fired a torpedo to sink a ship. The British Captain said it
was all so easy. He said he didn't think he would ever get over it.

i used to control the steam wheel which was mounted next to the reactor
control panel. i would see how fast i could open it up when ordered to
do so to see how far up i could make reactor power spike. i went from
20% to 60% one time, my record. drawing steam cools the reactor coolant
which makes more neutrons available to the core which increases the
fissile uranium reaction. it amazes me that they let kids play with
these toys.

as you can tell, i like true stories and i am collecting them from
usenet. they seem to have a greater impact on me than fiction. i am
trying to think of something to do with them.

the "when i was 5" or "when i was five" colection was interesting to me
because it seems that americans and germans talk this way but italians
and spanish do not. it is probably that the latter do not say it this
way, and i need to learn how italians and spanish speakers would phrase
it. it is clear, however, that americans are far more revealing about
embarassing personal details (myself included) than europeans. this was
already well known but it is interesting to collect evidence.

perhaps this is more sociology than art, but it gets my creativity
flowing in different ways and influences my dreams very dramatically.
