   The Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue Fellowship Program

   Objective:
   The Fellowship Programme is intended to provide an opportunity for
people   under the age of 35 from Southeast Asia to work for an 
international NGO
   directly on small arms issues. It aims to encourage people with diverse
   skills to apply to further enhance their capabilities as researchers,
   advocates, campaigners or lobbyists. The Centre for Humanitarian
Dialogue   also seeks to complement its capacity with the experience and 
skills of
the   Fellow.

   Description:
   The individuals selected for this programme base themselves at the
Centre   for a 6 month period to undertake a range of work about small arms 
and
human   security issues particularly from their country/region within 
Southeast
   Asia. They assist with a range of activities including administration,
   research & analysis, implementation of projects in the Small Arms
Programme   and other tasks. They are also able and encouraged to 
participate in
other   activities occurring in Geneva. The Fellow will also be provided with
the   opportunity to undertake a 4 week online
   course on conflict resolution offered by the European Network University
   (see www.netuni.nl).

   Essential Information:
   * The fellowship is remunerated with a salary of 2000CHF per month and a
   rent allowance is also provided.
   * A valid passport and capacity to obtain a Swiss work permit is
essential.   (The Centre will apply for a work permit for the individual. This
process   takes several months to complete. It is essential that you have a 
valid
   passport and birth certificate, amongst other ID.)
   * Only those selected for phone interview will be contacted.
   * No provision or assistance will be made available for family members.

   Qualifications:
   The individuals selected for this programme are expected to
demonstrate:
   * An interest and commitment to the issue of small arms availability,
   misuse, control and reduction;
   * A knowledge of human security concepts and debates;
   * Relevant research experience, work experience or academic
qualifications;
   * Good interpersonal and communicational skills;
   * Good English language skills, including writing and speaking;
   * An ability to work both as part of a team and independently;
   * An ability to represent the organisation at meetings and other events;
   * A sense of initiative and a capacity to identify both opportunities
and   problems;
   * Computer skills, including Word and Excel.

   Application Process:
   Applicants interested in the programme should carefully review the
criteria   for the programme and, if eligible, send:
   1. A resume (no more than 2 pages) of relevant educational work,
voluntary   or activist experience
   2. A two-page paper overviewing a human security dimension of the
problem of   small arms availability and misuse in a particular country or in
Southeast   Asia generally.
   3. A photocopy of the photo page in your valid passport (with expiry
date   etc.)

   IMPORTANT: If you do not provide these 3 documents, your application
cannot   be considered.
