Vol. 044: REALTOKYO BAR!

We have announced it on RT before, and now here it is:the "REALTOKYO BAR"!
The first volume takes place TODAY, August 22, 22:00 at Roppongi Hills
Information Center/THINK ZONE. Guests are one of Japan's shrewdest producers,
Meada Keizo, who used to work with the likes of Meredith Monk, Buena Vista
Social Club, La La La Human Steps, Rosas, Steve Reich, Dumb Type, etc., as well
as Dumb Type dancer Kawaguchi Takao. "Voyage," Dumb Type's latest production,
will be shown at Sai no Kuni Saitama Art Theatre, and next to an extensive talk
session previewing the show, this event includes the screening of Meada's
treasured video of the "Voyage" performances in Europe, complemented by
Kawaguchi's anecdotes.

Vol. 007: Kato Haruyuki from "Studio Voice" magazine (part 2)

I appeared as a host in the Internet program "namashibori.com," which you might
know from TV commercials. Yes, I've become one of the 'namashiborers'!
Rather than putting together some business-related programme, the concept of
namashibori.com is to invite people and friends for casual talks, so I just
felt like
joining in once. For the "Studio Voice program" I invited playwright/author
Aoyagi
Yumiko (known from the "Sweet Season" TV drama, etc.) and graphic designer and
ex-Cap member, Minezaki Noriteru. Until this spring I was working together
with him,
since he used to do the design for "Studio Voice." Aoyagi, on the other
hand, is the
author of the first book he ever designed the packaging for. As a popular
writer of TV
plays, Aoyagi doesn't really fit Studio Voice's 'subculture' kind of image,
but since
she's a 'hardcore' type of person, she's someone I can talk to without
feeling out of
place, and she's in fact one of the few true friends I have.

Super Robot 03 + inazma 01

When I call them the 'iron troupe' you might think of some Nazi bodyguards,
but of
course it couldn't be more different. As you might guess from the name
"Superrobot,"
we're talking about a collective of designers and architects that create metal
furniture mainly out of iron. Following their last exhibition, again they
fold, click-clack,
complete chairs and desks out of a single sheet of steel, and this time
they even
present a 'carpet chair' combining metal with a piece of carpet, and others.
On Saturday the event will be accompanied by a performance of film&web artist
unit inazma, whose "making of Superrobot chairs" video is worth checking out.
Click-clack, click-clack -- done!
