Utopiana

Yerevan
HayArt
Exhibition (25.9 - 25.10)
and
Symposium (26.9 - 28.9)

Armenia celebrates the 10 years of independence and the 1700 year of the
adoption of Christianity. Utopiana prefers to celebrate the future.

We would like to adress the question of utopia in our time, in order to
rediscover its power of liberation and creation. We can say with Ernst
Bloch, The Spirit of Utopia: "It's in order to find utopia, to find what is
just, for what one ought to live, to be organized, to have time, (…) That's
the reason why we build out in the unknown and search for the true, the
real where the mere factual reality disappears - incipit vita nova."
The idea of this exhibition is to unite artists, critics and philosophers
in a utopian territory, in a space with no frontiers. The idea is to
populate this territory with art that is based on its own potential and not
on political or economic power. Art's independence is the condition of it's
capacity to open new ways of thinking and feeling.
Let's imagine that Armenia is this territory - Paradise on Earth.
