Easygoing Creators
Lee Bul Exhibition

recommended by art curator Sumitomo Fumihiko

The main activities of Lee Bul, who started her career as a
'Korean female artist' in the late 1980s, include performances
dealing with her female identity, as well as the creation of
strangely artificial-looking, ornamental objects. In her artworks
she discusses and challenges the arbitrary lines drawn between
cultural identities, genders, high and low culture, and others,
and the palette of materials she employs ranges from porcelain
to karaoke boxes, and from balloons and silicon to raw fish.
The "Cyborg" series of sculptures that is on display at this
time's exhibition is complemented by another series, titled
"Monsters"....

animation film. Svankmajer recently made his second visit to Tokyo,
to promote his new film "Otesanek".
