Active curation phase ends 1/21/01

It has been a busy Fall for us, and the (re)distributions show reflects some of
that activity by including several new works from the US and Europe:

Debra Hampton's From the Edge (Palm OS) is a series of animations based on
motifs derived from Japanese origami that provide a metaphor for transformation
and change.

Orit Kruglanski's Dust and Touch - two Palm OS-based interactive poems.
Peter Dukes' Glasshouse is a game / narrative that plays with notions of
nomadicity/ emigration, and sets this in the context of the nature of the pda
device itself as a mobile, intimate-space artefact.
Corby & Baily's Gameboy UltraF_uk is a Free Software GameBoy emulator whose
rendering system has been (pathologically) rewritten to degenerate over time.
Kati Rubinyi's The Gambit (used with Palm OS) is an interactive animation in
the form of a site-specific performance/installation to take place in the lobby
of the Westin-Bonaventure Hotel
Scott Paterson's Archinect, which is a possibility for an architecture, as a
protocol between the virtual and the real, that is an interface between the
activity of our daily lives and the space of the internet that incorporated PDA
technology. (Coming 12/14/01)
And a reference link to PS1's Improbable phones from the Buzz Club exhibition.

(re)distributions across the globe:
(re)distributions has been getting great press coverage during its run, such as
its inclusion in the BBC Online Best of the Web!
It is also currently running as part of the Media Centre's MediaLounge exhibit
(UK) and will be referred from the upcoming www.apogeonline.com net art
festival
(IT).
Thanks to everyone in the press and the arts community for their support of
this project.

Upcoming Events:
There are currently plans for a live chat with a luminary to be announced, and
in January, we will be featuring an online forum to discuss the issues covered
in this exhibition to cap off its run.
We are also working with an upcoming digital arts biennial for including part
of the (re)distributions show in the exhibition.

Active Curation Phase ends 1/21/01
As the (re)distributions show has has a dynamic curatorial model that has been
flexible in its scope, it does have an end date of 1/21, after which a final
update on 2/1 will be implemented. There are already 2-3 more works on the
slate for inclusion at that time. We would appreciate it if all entries and
submissions would arrive before 1/15 for the most efficient use of time.

(re)distributions is an exhibit exploring the expressive potential of Handheld
Computing (PDAs), Information Appliances like Pagers and Cellular Phones, as
well as Nomadic technologices like Empedded Processing and Distributed Systems.
