Animator, video artist, VJ. A prolific Melbourne
experimentalist and innovator in art and non-art
circles, Nason will be presenting his research
into body-mounted video projectors and other
unique A/V inquiries.

BIO:
----
Nason uses the handling of animals by humans as
the focus for a series of works featuring birds.
An owl, rosella, ibis and starling all become
manipulated in real time in separate works that
were initially the by-product of animations
produced for inclusion in night-club VJ
residencies. Produced when a bird is found, these
works rely on a situation unfolding that includes
the processing of a carcass as video.

Human/animal or human/nature relationships feature
widely through his work. A short video titled
Cloud features the shifting stains of rain through
a found pile of credit card transaction slips
found in Collingwood 1997. Another titled Wormhole
features the pathway of book-worms through a 16th
Century heroic poem bought from a bargain bin in
Paris 2002.

Other subject matter in his video include
information & projected texts, hand held
projectionist works & exploratory masculinities.
This work has been distributed solely via
performance, screenings or outdoor/random/mobile
until his dvd-r edition this year titled Dead
Ibis.

Nason was part of the New Media art scene as it
began in Australia and has opted to maintain a
connection to underground activities including
exploring unusual urban living spaces, street
installations and actions, zine making and
workshops. His work has been at various venues
including AV performances in New York 2007, and
internet art at Porn Art Around the World in
Belgium 2002. He associates with figures from the
Doom, Feminist, Graffiti, Media-Art & Electro
scenes and is currently looking for a fresh dead
kangaroo or emu in situ.

FAVSC is a regular meeting place for artists,
noise makers, sound-designers, electronics
boffins, installation artists, film freaks, VHS
geeks, performers, programmers, DIYers,
phonographers, photographers, holographers,
circuit benders, laptop musicians, curators,
producers and anyone with an interest in lo/hi-fi
new/old-media art.

TRANSPORT:
----------
Take Williamstown/Werribee/Sydenham train from
city, alight at Footscray, turn away from the
shopping centre on your right, go left over the
rail bridge, down Bunbury street until you hit
Moreland st, look for the white shipping container

Footscray Arts is located on the Maribyrnong river
bicycle path, which crosses the Footscray Road
bicycle path from the Melbourne city.
