while criss-x-crossing the listservosphere i encountered mini of your
cross postings ++ i find it very curious ++ kinda existentially
alienating that the supposed CHI offices of The North Atlantic Treaty
Organization have an event planned for the _exact_ same date ++ w/sum
_very_ similar content to an event that i am involved in organizing +
developing. i am a core.developer of the collaborative
criticalartware project. criticalartware is an [application/platform/
concern] compiled at the turn of the twenty first century to address
the hystories of new media, [software-as-art/art-as-software] +
[connections/ruptures/dislocations] between early moments of artware
+ Video Art. by drawing [parallels/paths] between the [concepts/
discourses] of the early video art movement + the current [artware/
newmedia] moment, criticalartware hopes to [re]connect the current
context to its rightful past: a multitude of [personal/subjective]
hyperthreaded [her/hi/hy]stories:

on FRI 2006.04.28 we (criticalartware) are screening interviews w/
Josh Kit Clayton + Josh Goldberg who as far as i know have _nothing_
to do w/+ most certainly do not represent The Organization of the
Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). this criticalartware screening
is occurring @ BUSKER, an alternative art space dedicated to {time|
screen|code}-based experimental media art here in CHI.
this overlapping schedule calls all kinds of social situations, art
hystorical events, tingleTangled intersections + hypermediated
meanings into question. particularly questionable is the way in which
you describe the need to 'maintain NATO's position of criticality as
related to the work developed by these two programmers.'...
on 01 level this is questionable b/c of the assumption of The North
Atlantic Treaty Organization being able to mobilize critical
discourse in relation artware. i am highly skeptical of that The
North Atlantic Treaty Organization is even remotely interested in [+/
or] able to critically engage in the discourses on + of artware,
Video Art, New Media [+/or] the hyperthreaded hystories of {time|
screen|code}-based experimental media arts. The North Atlantic Treaty
Organization has never to my knowledge developed any public positions
on these topics. if i am incorrect about this lack of experience,
please direct me to any onLine resources that could support your claims.
on another level this is strangely familiar as criticalartware (a
small but still international organization w/very different goals +
approaches then those of The North Atlantic Treaty Organization)
seeks to facilitate, enable + mobilize exactly this kind of
criticality + discourse in relation to these hystories, individuals +
projects...
so it seems to me that you may be involved in sum sort of:
(0). New Media performance of onLine identity circa mid to late
1990's [Digital/Net/Web] Art culures
(1). cracker culture specific attempted identity theft of
criticalartware
(2). B1FF style trolling for re-activating discourses on NN, nato.0
+55, artware, realtime audio video systems, social constructions of
identity, etc...
i can personally + artistically relate to all of this, but
specifically, in relation to [option/mode] (2) i am excited +
encouraged that you have been able to realize + activate
conversations on + of NN, nato.0+55, NATO, fascism, militarism,
corporatism, closed vs open source software development in various
[New Media/Digital/Net/Web] Art communities, etc... that had
previously gone inactivate. although i am still unsure of your
motives, intent + long range goals, this has been an inspiring
development in the our intersecting inboxes.
perhaps you will attend criticalartware's screening event on FRI
2006.04.28 @ BUSKER + we can continue the conversation?
