PRESS RELEASE
Albany 2001 Company
The Albany event 2004
agm
Wednesday 9th June 2004, 7-10pm (doors open at 6pm)
The Albany celebrates its achievements as a centre for creativity and
community
The Albany has been through a period of great change since its last AGM
in May 2003. It is now set to enter a new period of consolidation and is
ready to build on its successes as a creative centre. Having built a
strong new staff team led by CEO Gavin Barlow and General Manager Hilary
Wilson, the Albany is using its AGM to showcase the work of its resident
companies like Heart and Soul, Entelechy, Futures Theatre Company and
Drake Music Project. Displaying their talent on stage will also be some
of the emerging young artists who have been participating in the first
cohort of the Albany's NEW Young Advocates Training Scheme. The Albany
would like to invite the local community to join this celebration and
become part of the Albany's future.
The evening provides an opportunity to hear about what has happened at
the Albany over the last year, as well as enjoy entertainment and food
in a relaxed, social atmosphere.
The evening will include:
· Performances from resident organisations Drake Music Project
(disability arts) & Futures Theatre Company (youth theatre)
· A devised performance exploring stereo types by young
participants taking part in the Young Advocates training programme at
the Albany
· Screenings showcasing the work of Entelechy & Heart n Soul,
both resident organisations at the Albany and active in the field of
disability arts
· Displays and information about other community programmes,
events, activities that take place in the building
The Membership of the Albany 2001 Company is integral to the successful
running of the Albany. The £1 admission charge entitles AGM attenders to
become a member and vote in the formal part of the AGM (including the
vote for members of the Council of Management). Young people under 18
are not entitled to vote, but are welcome to attend the event for free.
SPECIAL TICKET OFFER: there is a £7 special concessionary ticket for The
Usual Suspects show on 18 June available to people attending the Albany
AGM 04!
Come along and enjoy!
